 The
Youth Volunteer Corps is forming a Teen Advisory Council (TAC) for
the 2005-06 school year. The TAC meets once or twice a month
to plan service projects, trips, and other activities. The TAC
is also instrumental in setting the agenda for the year and the next
summer.

In July, the YVC completed projects with the Salvation Army,
Excelsior School, & the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo. The YVC
also helped Habitat for Humanity build a house in West Monroe. Talk about real-world skills! Anyone need new siding?
In June over 70 teens enrolled in the program, filling up the YMCA office and a room at the (ever generous) United Way. The teens worked with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Strauss Theater, Christus St. Joseph, ARCO, and the War Veterans Home.
